Troubleshooting

Start with the boundary that failed and preserve the original project, media, and export evidence while diagnosing it.

Blackmagic device not detected

  1. Confirm the capture device is connected.
  2. Confirm Blackmagic Desktop Video is installed.
  3. Open Live Capture diagnostics.
  4. Check SDK, runtime, hardware, preview, and signal status.
  5. Use Retry DeckLink Runtime if the app offers it.
  6. Restart the device or Mac if the runtime is still not available.

No signal

  1. Confirm HDMI/SDI cabling.
  2. Confirm the source is powered on.
  3. Confirm the source format is supported by the capture device.
  4. Open Blackmagic Media Express or Desktop Video Setup if hardware needs external confirmation.
  5. Return to Kaish Analyst and retry preview.

Live DVR is pending

Live DVR plays finalized DVR media only. Pending tags mean the requested range is not fully covered by finalized DVR media yet. Wait for media to finalize, choose another ready tag, or stop/finalize the recording.

Missing media

  1. Open Media Manager.
  2. Scan or refresh media references.
  3. Use Relink to point the package to the correct file.
  4. Use Consolidate when you want external media copied into the package.

Finder file icons do not refresh

Finder may cache document icons after a new build. Relaunch Finder or restart macOS. If icons still do not appear after a clean installed build, the app may need standalone document icon resources in addition to asset catalog image sets.

A clip library does not open or play

Confirm whether the document is a reference .kaishclips library or portable .kaishcliplibrarypack. Open it with the matching Clips command, relink referenced media when needed, and play an early, middle, and late item. Preserve older legacy library files instead of renaming them.

A row playlist or selection plays incorrectly

Confirm the selected rows, lane/visibility scope, source range, and media-part boundary. Test Full Video separately. If the row stops after one event or plays a complete source segment, keep the document and report the exact timing shown.

A Find result will not open or add

Resolve the source document’s media and verify the returned range. For presentation handoff, focus the intended presentation, add one genuinely new test clip, and confirm the destination name and new row before sending a larger selection.

A standalone package is too large or fails validation

Play every required source range, choose a fresh destination through the save panel, and verify free space. A portable presentation should contain selected clip ranges, not full source segments. Keep the reference original unchanged until the portable copy passes.

An export reports a permission error

Choose a new destination through the macOS save panel and export one or two items. Open Sportscode or Focus output in the exact receiving version and verify its clip timing and media references before a full job.

Project Browser jumps in front

Keep the Project Browser minimized and use the app menu bar or Window menu to open and focus workflow windows. If it returns unexpectedly, note which command or document brought it forward and include that sequence in a support report.

Large XML imports are slow

Large XML files can take time to parse and preview. Use the import preview to confirm segment alignment and row count before importing.

Playback shortcuts fire in the wrong place

Click the intended playback surface first. Shortcuts are focus-safe and should not run while typing in text fields. Code Window hotkeys are separate and require Code Window focus/armed state.
