Live Capture and Bench DVR

Keep the Blackmagic preview pinned and live while a separate DVR Review window handles playback.

iPad availability: Bench DVR is included with eligible Elite and Team access. Pair Kaish App on the same network with Kaish Capture or Kaish Analyst using compatible direct Blackmagic input, and test the exact hardware, network, and source format before a game.

Before recording

  1. Connect the supported source and confirm picture and audio.
  2. Create a session with title, sport, quality, and save destination.
  3. Enable DVR Clips / Bench DVR before Record when using Blackmagic.
  4. Open the Code Window and confirm Live Capture is the target.
  5. Run a short record, tag, Stop, and playback test.

Separate live and DVR windows

The Live Capture window owns the uninterrupted input preview. Open DVR Review creates a separate resizable player and timeline. Resize, move, or close DVR Review without switching the live preview away from the source.

  • Review a finalized event or scrub ready DVR media.
  • Use Back 15s, Play/Pause, Forward 15s, and Return to Live.
  • Choose Player + Clips or Player + Timeline when lane context matters.
  • Pending media stays visibly pending until it is safe to play.

Pair the iPad

  1. Put the Mac and iPad on the same local Wi-Fi.
  2. On iPad, open Bench DVR or Open Bench DVR.
  3. Select the Kaish Capture or Kaish Analyst source under Available Sources.
  4. Enter the current six-digit code shown on the Mac when prompted.
  5. After pairing, tap a Live Tag to replay it or use the transport controls.

The six-digit pairing code changes when the Mac DVR server restarts, so pair again with the new code after a restart. Use Forget This Mac on iPad or Revoke Trusted iPads on Mac when access should end.

What DVR changes—and what it does not

  • DVR uses short finalized sidecar media; it never replaces the protected main recording.
  • Review playback does not stop or replace the live preview.
  • Tags are timestamps first; clip media becomes ready only after the required range finalizes.
  • Current DVR support is the Blackmagic path. Generic cameras and OBS remain normal recording sources.

After Stop

  1. Wait for recording and DVR finalization.
  2. Open or send the completed work to Analyst Review.
  3. Choose Selected Rows, Selected Clips, or Complete Timeline as appropriate.
  4. Verify playback before moving or sharing the package.
